Buttonville is based on a magic-realist short story written by Julie Hill, realised theatrically with Winning Productions director and designer Stephen Bain, composer Jeff Henderson and collaborator Rosie Langabeer.
Buttonville weaves current issues and familiar characters through the
fictional town of Buttonville, where the extraordinary arrival of a luminous
beast (Luminoceros) changes the fortune of the town. Eric, the local underdog, rises above expectation as the town falls into greed-fueled exploitation. He must overcome his own physical constraints and restore the magical powers of the Luminoceros.
